B&Q is trying to recapture some of its dwindling sales by launching a new free next day delivery service on hundreds of their bulk items.

From March 7 anyone who is embarking on a large DIY project will be able to take advantage of the service as long as they are spending more than £250 in one transaction.

B&Q Online Store Named Worst for 2nd Year Running

B&Q Online Store Named Worst for 2nd Year Running

A customer satisfaction survey conducted by Which? has seen the B&Q online store being named as the worst for the second year running. With a score of just 51 out of 100, the store was named as the one which would be least likely to be recommended.

Shopper were asked about their shopping experiences including price, availability, product stock, delivery, website usability and the return process.

Most of the complaints made by shoppers surrounded the lack of availability of stock and the fact that items are displayed online yet they are actually out of stock.

In general consumers also complained about having to pay for postage and packaging when shopping online with 41% saying they found this annoying.

B&Q have said that they are currently investing £35 million into their online store and that they are disappointed by the feedback they have had. They point out that the comments are taken seriously.

Meanwhile the survey revealed that the Homebase online store was not very much better than the B&Q one with a score of just 57%.

Of all the stores in the DIY retail sector, the Screwfix online store came in with an impressive 81% putting them ahead of all their rivals.

B&Q Release It's Spring Ranges For 2010

B&Q has released details of it's spring inspired ranges for 2010.With plenty of pinks and pastels the range includes a rose canvas for just £10 and flower table lamps in pink and cream also for £10.

B&Q Sales Fall

It appears the B&Q have had yet another difficult quarter with like for like sales in UK stores falling by 4.3% in the last ten weeks. Sales of building products were also down, showing that customers are less likely to be considering large DIY jobs and home improvements.

B&Q Takes a Tumble

Kingfisher shares tumbled earlier this week after a major broker downgraded the company and suggested that investors sell their stock. The B&Q owners shares dropped by 11.5p to just 243p and was part of a general downturn in the retail market. This represented a 4% fall. Other retail stores to see sharp declines were Primark, Marks & Spencer, Next and Dixons.

It is thought that the broker SG made the recommendation due to the link which the DIY market has with the housing market.

They have started the classes after their research found that 60% of people have little jobs around the home which they cannot do due to time, cost or simple know-how. The research also showed that 60% of people wish they could learn more of the skills which their grandparents have.
